Distribution of relief to flood victims

Distribution of relief to flood victims

The effects of climate change have not only increased the frequency of cyclones and tidal surges but have also intensified the extremity and unpredictability of winter, summer, and monsoon seasons. Floods, flash floods, and cold waves have also become more severe, leaving disadvantaged people more vulnerable. To support these marginalized individuals, Al-Khair Foundation has undertaken the following initiatives:

  • Food Assistance for Flood Victims: Between 2022 and 2024, Al-Khair Foundation distributed 4,000 food packets and 5,000 dry food packets to those affected by floods and cyclones. This assistance reached 9,000 families, providing food for 45,000 people for three weeks in disaster-affected areas such as Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Sunamganj, Khulna, and Barguna.
  • Support for Cyclone Victims: The frequent low-pressure systems in the Bay of Bengal, resulting from climate change, have caused recurring cyclones and tidal surges, severely affecting the lives of people along Bangladesh’s 483-kilometer southern coastal belt. Along with professional losses, cyclones and tidal surges have caused infrastructural damage to homes and communities, forcing many daily wage earners to migrate. To support these individuals, Al-Khair Foundation has provided food assistance to cyclone victims, along with 200 bundles of tin for repairing damaged homes.
